2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Specs Reveal More Power While Shedding Weight

A meaner & leaner machine with impressive new specs for the updated 2017 model.

A  quick look at the Raptor pickup, one may ask why would anyone need a truck like that? The answer: why not? Built to be a no-compromise, no-bullsh*t, off-road performance machine, the new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor continues to improve with each model release.

2017 Raptor Sheds Weight and Adds Power

For 2017, the Raptor combines more power and torque with a 227 kg (500-pound) weight reduction and advanced powertrain control technology; adds a second-generation 3.5-litre high-output EcoBoost engine producing 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to an advanced 10-speed transmission.

Adding power is great. But so is reducing weight. Compared to the 2014 Raptor model, the 2017 version sheds an extra 500-pounds, employing the same high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy body and a fully boxed high-strength steel frame as the current F-150 trucks. If fuel-economy matters to you, the 2017 Raptor’s certified EPA fuel economy ratings are 15.6 L/100Km city, 13.2L/100Km highway.

As more automakers continue to release beefed up versions of their midsize trucks, the Ford F-150 Raptor remains one of the originals, leading the way. With the all-new 2017 release, Ford’s ultimate F-150 shows us exactly why, and how it stays at the top.
