The people have spoken and Kia has responded. Fans of the popular, urban runabout got what they asked for today with the debut of the 2017 Kia Soul Exclaim Turbo at the 2016 LA Auto Show. With a 40-hp bump in power, including an additional 45 lb.ft of torque, the new Soul now gets more zip.

The vice president of product planning at KMA (Kia), Orth Hedrick, states, “We wanted to provide loyal Soul lovers and new buyers a sportier option.” The new 1.6L turbo powerplant takes the Soul from 161-hp to 201-hp in the incoming model, with fuel economy at an impressive 28 miles-per-gallon, city and highway combined. The engine pairs to a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission with quicker and smoother shift points and no shift shock, which should make for more dynamic acceleration and contribute to a more engaging driving experience, according to Kia. Inside, the 2017 Kia Soul Exclaim Turbo gets a standard leather-wrapped, D-shaped steering wheel, pushbutton start with smart key, UVO3 with e-Services, and integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay — the latter two finding their way into most new cars on the market today.
