Based on the all-new 2016 Cruze sedan, Chevrolet today debuted the new 2017 Cruze Hatch ahead of it’s North American International Auto Show official unveil.
Chevrolet is making a strong push, both into new segments with vehicles like the Colorado midsize pickup and the compact crossover Trax, but also in terms of stepping up their game with new technologies, more features and greater efficiency, performance and safety with fresh, distinctive styling. The new 2016 Cruze styling has improved significantly but as sedans are somewhat falling out of favour, the introduction of a sportier hatch version only makes sense.
A Lighter Hatchback
The 2017 Cruze Hatch is based on a more rigid and lighter architecture, sitting 200 pounds lighter than the previous-generation model due largely to a body structure that is 100 pounds lighter and an engine that’s 44 pounds lighter.
In North America, the all-new Cruze hatchback will be offered in L, LS, LT and Premier – and a more expressive RS package, featuring unique front and rear fascias, rocker panels, rear spoiler, fog lamps and – on the Premier model – 18-inch wheels.
Available Fall 2016
The Cruze is Chevrolet’s best-selling car around the world, with 3.5 million sold since it went on sale in 2008. We’re pretty certain the all-new 2017 Cruze Hatch will help sales even further – reaching into new segments.
The 2017 Cruze Hatch goes on sale this Fall 2016.
