Is the Bronco Sasquatch Package Worth the Expensive Upgrade?

Or just buy the Bronco Wildtrak that includes everything the $7,000 Sasquatch Package includes?

With its body-on-frame design, standard all-wheel drive, and plenty of power, the new Ford Bronco is a formidable off-roader going toe-to-toe with the latest generation Jeep Wrangler, including the burly Wrangler 392. However, those who want to augment the Bronco’s offroading capabilities without paying for the off-road-focused Wildtrack trim level can now opt for the roughly $7,000 Sasquatch Package (the exact package price may vary according to the features, financing terms, and availability).

Here’s What the Sasquatch Package Includes

Excluding the beastly 418 horsepower Bronco Raptor we reviewed, the Sasquatch goods are accessible on all the models in the range, and the Bronco Wildtrack has it as standard. The Sasquatch Package includes 17-inch Beadlock-compatible wheels wrapped in 35-inch mud tires, an electromechanical transfer case, 4.7 final drive ration with electronic-locking front and rear axles, more prominent fender flares, extra suspension clearance, and heavy-duty Bilstein shocks. While previously the package was only available with the 10-speed automatic transmission, Bronco buyers can now have it even with the manual.

Here’s a breakdown of the key Sasquatch Package features:

  • 35-inch Tires: enhancing off-road capability by providing improved ground clearance.
  • Beadlock-Capable Wheels: allowing off-roaders to lower tire pressure for enhanced traction during off-road adventures.
  • Front and Rear Locking Differentials: improve traction by ensuring Bronco power is distributed evenly to both wheels on the same axle, reducing the chance of wheel spin.
  • High-Clearance Suspension: navigate over uneven terrain more effectively.
  • High-Clearance Fender Flares: larger fender flares accommodate the burlier 35-inch tires and contribute to the Bronco’s rugged appearance.
  • 4.7 Final Drive Ratio: designed to optimize performance for off-road driving conditions.
  • Off-Road Suspension with Bilstein Shocks: provide a smoother ride over rough terrain.

In our opinion, the best Sasquatch-fitted Bronco out now is the Bronco Everglade we reviewed with a Ford-designed snorkel and integrated winch with 10,000-pound capability. As the name suggests, it’s built to wade into deep waters where lesser vehicles fear to tread. Shod with 35-inch Goodyear mud terrain tires mounted on 17-inch rims, this aqua-craving toy has a full 29 cm (11.5 inches) of ground clearance and all the basics you need to explore the wetlands. Granted, it’s less of a rock climber and more of an overlander.

So, Is the Pricey Bronco Sasquatch Package Worth Adding?

The simple answer is absolutely. To prove our case, let’s add Wildtrack to the mix, which starts at around $50,000, featuring a stout 2.7L mill, traditional LED lighting, a choice of a hardtop for the 4-door model, and many tech additions.

Besides this, the Wildtrack (4-door model pictured in blue here) boasts every part and system we get in the Sasquatch Package. We are talking about 35-inch tires with 17-inch Beadlock-Capable wheels, electronic-locking front & rear locking differentials, HOSS 2.0 system with Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers, and high clearance fender flares.

Evidently, your budget and needs will help you decide between the Wildtrack trim and the Sasquatch Package. For instance, back in 2022, you could buy the $30,800 base Bronco model and add a $6,590 Sasquatch Package to get the ultimate driving experience on any terrain. However, you will only get 300 hp from the 2.3L Ecoboost engine instead of 330 hp from the 2.7L powerplant, which would come at an extra cost ($1,895, to be exact). These prices are a bit higher today, but you get the point.

There are plenty of other options to dial up your Bronco, for which you have to pay more. Moreover, adding the Sasquatch Package may require other changes in the vehicle configuration that will demand you to dish out extra bucks. That said, even if we add other optional features to upgrade our base Bronco’s capability, the price will still be less than the Wildtrack’s. Therefore, the Sasquatch Package is completely worth its price for those wanting to make their Bronco a more capable off-roader.
