Louis Vuitton and Singer have found a way to make a reimagined 964 even less ordinary. The 911 is no stranger to the fashion world (Aimé Leon Dore gave a 1978 911SC its own seriously stylish makeover), but this takes things considerably further. Unveiled during Monterey Car Week, the collaboration brings Vuitton’s Art of Travel philosophy to two very different Porsche 911s, starting with a Singer Classic in saffron, cobalt blue and yellow, powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six and fitted with a roof rack for custom luggage, skis or a handcrafted Louis Vuitton surfboard. Inside, Vuitton leatherwork, Tambour-inspired instruments and Monogram details carry the theme through the cabin. The second, a Classic Turbo Cabriolet conceived with Louis Vuitton women’s artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière, goes more Riviera with Calcaire Lutétien white paint, gold accents, teak-inspired woodwork and a twin-turbo 3.8L flat-six. Naturally, Vuitton also created matching luggage, clothing, helmets, driving gloves and watches, right down to the detachable mechanical dashboard clock that helped bring the two brands together. A very different kind of luggage carrier, and we’re all for it.
