The world’s first plug-in hybrid in the luxury class is here:  2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid. Now with a higher-performance battery and more powerful electric motor, this new 416-hp Panamera hybrid produces 95-hp via electric motor, doubling the previous model’s electric motor at 47-hp.

From a standstill, the Panamera E-Hybrid accelerates to 100km/hr in just 5.5-seconds. The electric boost function helps here, in which the performance of the electric motor boosts that of the combustion engine. Boosting can also be activated by kick-down – such as in overtaking situations. The car’s top speed is 270 km/h. The parallel full hybrid concept developed by Porsche also offers “coasting” at higher speeds, which refers to free coasting with the internal combustion engine shut off and energy recovery by generating electricity.

2014 Panamera S and 2014 Panamera 4S

Two other Executive Panamera versions are also new for 2014. With an extended wheelbase and an entirely new three-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine for the Porsche Panamera S and Panamera 4S. An already unrivalled broad base of models has now been extended and consists of ten models offering an even further broader range between sportiness and comfort.

2014 Panamera arrives in Canada this fall, with prices starting at $113,300 CAD.
