The new 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA 4MATIC debuted in Shanghai earlier this year. Mercedes is taking a whole new approach and targeting a younger audience with this more efficient and more affordable light crossover. With a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine with 208hp, the GLA will give back a little of the power lost by opting for a 4-cylinder vehicle. Even those the GLA will be in a lower price bracket than Mercedes’ other crossovers this is in large part to new features like front-wheel drive, which creates a lighter vehicle and is cheaper to build while being more efficient at the same time.
They touted its light off-road abilities at the GLA’s debut, however this vehicle will never be meant for anything but pavement. What is does have as far as excellent handling though are features such as truncated self-steering which will allow it to counter-steer to help correct a skid, or counter harsh winds to keep on course. It also comes with a few cool features like Collision Prevention Assist to help apply the brakes more forcefully, and accident avoidance technology to automatically hit the brakes and help steer you back into your lane will be optional.
