Mercedes-Benz Australia builds the ultimate G-Wagon workhorse with the G300 CDI

The 181-hp Mercedes-Benz G300 CDI is an off-road workhorse built on a G-Wagon platform - but only Down Under.

Partnering with their Australian team, Mercedes-Benz is offering a modified version of their high-performance G-Class, fitted with a pickup bed and styling that screams I’m here to work. Dubbed the Mercedes-Benz G300 CDI, this utility-focused workhorse is the perfect answer to those waiting for Mercedes’ upcoming X-Class line of pickups, recently revealed at the LA Auto Show. With a snorkel to battle up the 25-inches of water, a skid plate protecting the oil pan, a menacing black grille, all rolling on 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in hefty all-terrain rubber, the Mercedes-Benz G300 CDI personifies what the luxury G-Class really is capable of — but without the AMG power plant. This G-Class variant finds a 181-hp 3.0L turbodiesel making 295 lb.ft of torque all paired to a full-time AWD setup. Pricing starts at around $90,000 US (or $119,900 Australian dollars, to be exact) and currently selling in the land Down Under. Here’s a full G300 CDI review from whichcar.com.
