Refreshed 2020 Jaguar XE Takes Aim At New 3-Series & Revamped A4

Next-level sporting prowess. Expect a much-deserved, revamped 2020 XE with a refined exterior, new interior and advanced technology. A closer look at specs.

Jaguar’s compact XE sports sedan launched back in 2015 gets an update for 2020. The luxury 4-door got some bigger interior updates for 2018 including improved display, updated interface, and new cupholder covers like in the more executive mid-size XF sedan.

But the new variant does add more tech and premium materials inside while changing the front design for the better. Full specs at the end of this article.

2020 Jaguar XE Trims Available

Going up against heavy hitters like the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 (and we’ll throw the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class in there), the new X-Type predecessor needed to make some moves to compete.

The new XE facelift is just what Jaguar was in need of, especially with an all-new 3-Series for 2019 in the mix. Priced at $40K in the US, the positioning is just right, too. Canadians pay a bit more for the entry-level trim but get all-wheel drive as standard. Here’s a look at the trims:

United States (2020 Jaguar XE Trims):

  1. Jaguar XE S
  2. Jaguar XE R-Dynamic S
  3. Jaguar XE R-Dynamic SE
  4. Jaguar XE R-Dynamic HSE

Canada (2020 Jaguar XE Trims):

  1. Jaguar XE P250 S
  2. Jaguar XE P250 SE
  3. Jaguar XE P300 R-Dynamic S
  4. Jaguar XE P300 R-Dynamic SE
  5. Jaguar XE P300 R-Dynamic HSE

Enhanced styling with a bolder front face

For 2020, the more prominent changes are primarily to the exterior look. The front end is revamped with a bolder, sleeker look now incorporating new slimmer full-LED headlights retaining the same shape as the outgoing version but now just thinner.

The bumpers both front and rear now find larger single openings compared to the 2019 XE’s dual thin outlets. Overall, the front grille is redesigned flossing a much more aggressive look which suits the British rocket just fine.

Inside, the new 2020 XE does get some noteworthy changes to ramp up comfort, quality, and convenience.

Jaguar has added more premium materials to the luxury sedan while putting a little more love and attention to the details. Storage is also improved, according to the brand, while adding more cabin comfort.

Like any update these days, the XE’s tech is totally updated including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standards.

Optional features include the Jaguar InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, a high-definition 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display, and with the flip of a switch the ClearSight Rear View Mirror becomes an HD video screen.

The new Jaguar XE also now gets a SportShift gear selector and JaguarDrive Control ‘toggle’ switch inspired by the F-TYPE, eliminating the rotary control gear selector.

The 2020 Jaguar XE made its official debut at the 2020 New York Auto Show.
