Rhino GX Turns Ford F-450 Super Duty into an Unstoppable Force

Built on the Ford 450 Super Duty, the Rhino GX is an all-terrain vehicle that will pretty much go anywhere, thanks to a 6.8L V10, smart hydraulic suspension, and heavy duty calipers with ABS.

The heavy-duty Ford F-450 is no slouch for getting down to business. From emergency and rescue vehicles across the country to a heavy equipment transporter, thanks to its V8 or V10 power and ability to navigate rough terrain, this massive truck simply gets it done.

Well, the folks at US Security Vehicles (USSV) had other plans in store. Known for designing some of the most secure vehicles currently on the market, USSV’s take on the F-450 is a highly specialized luxury SUV designed for a niche market that values both extreme off-road capability and luxury.

A Luxury V10-Powered SUV with Handling to Match

The Rhino GX is built on the rugged chassis of the Ford F-450 Super Duty and features a dual 18-gauge steel structure, offering superior durability. However, it pales compared to the nearly 20,000-pound Gurkha RPV built on the Ford F-550 chassis, but we digress.

Under the hood, it chooses between two powerful engines: the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel, which delivers 330 horsepower and a massive 750 lb-ft of torque, and the 6.8L, 3-valve V10 engine. The V10, known for its impressive output, generates 362 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

This V10 engine isn’t just about power; it also enhances drivability with power-assisted steering, making the Rhino GX surprisingly maneuverable despite its size. Safety is paramount, with 4-wheel vented disc brakes ensuring reliable stopping power. The front suspension is a robust twin-coil monobeam with 1.38” shock absorbers, while the rear suspension features a LiquidSpring CLASS smart hydraulic system with a solid axle, providing a smoother ride over rough terrain.

Additional standout features include heavy-duty calipers with ABS, and multiple tire options such as the 355/60R20 Mickey Thompson, 38×15.50R20 MudTerrain, and Toyo Open Country MT, all mounted on custom 10-lug aluminum alloy wheels with bespoke spacers. These components collectively make the Rhino GX not just a powerhouse but a capable and refined off-road luxury vehicle.
