An Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio SUV with off-road abilities

The Alfa Romeo brand has been around for over 100 years. But sport utilities? Not as long. However, that’s not stopping luxury automakers from jumping into the hot SUV arena. Today at the 2016 LA Show, the Italian automaker debuted the Alfa Romeo Stelvio — the company’s first SUV in history.

Powered by a 510-hp 2.9-litre V6 BiTurbo petrol engine inspired by Ferrari technologies and technical know-how, the Stelvio offers all-wheel drive with Q4 technology designed to manage the car’s drive distribution in real time. Styling-wise, the front end is all Alfa Romeo with that distinguished grill. With dimensions at 468 cm in length, height of 165 cm and width of 216 cm, the Stelvio has that compact car look, starting at the front and developing towards the rear, and a cabin that ends on a steeply raked rear hatch, topped with an spoiler for maximum aerodynamic performance. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s V6 is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission specifically calibrated to make gear changes in just 150 milliseconds in Race mode.
