Cadillac’s New V-Series Blackwing Duo: 2022 CT5-V and CT4-V Differences

Ready for the track - no trailer needed.

Cadillac just unleashed a pair of truly diabolical sedans flossing insane power, track-ready handling, and gorgeous looks. But what are the main differences between the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and CT4-V Blackwing? They both put down big horsepower and look almost identical.

But a with a roughly $25,000 price discrepancy and nearly 200 horsepower margin between the two, these all-American luxury sport sedans are indeed cut form the same cloth but do have some key differences.

First, the V-Series Blackwing similarities

Aside from luxury, the storied brand has a rich history rooted in high-performance racing — from the iconic 1950 Series 61 racers at Le Mans to the 2004 CTS-V making its mark in the ultra-competitive SCCA World Challenge GT Championship.

The 2022 V-Series Blackwing duo have been extensively race-tested (no shocker there), both sporting RWD and 6-speed manual transmission as standard (the shifter finds a 3D printed know — a Caddy first).

Both gain forged aluminum alloy wheels in either a dark or bright finish, wrapped in Blackwing-specific Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber which Cadillac says incorporates R-compound for added acceleration, cornering and braking traction.

Essentially, Cadillac’s suburban-friendly CT5/CT5-V and CT4/CT4-V sedans have morphed into the brand’s most track-capable machines ever, with the world’s fastest reacting suspension thanks to the fourth generation of Magnetic Ride Control (MR 4.0), with improvements to the front and rear suspension systems.

End of the day, Cadillac has produced a pair of exceptionally well-designed 4-door machines that can drop Timmy off at soccer practice before ripping up the local track. Best part? No trailer needed.

Below, the key performance differences between both 2022 models.
