I-PACE Concept Unveiled in LA: Jaguar’s First All-Electric Vehicle

Hitting roads mid-2018, the Jaguar I-PACE Concept is the brand’s first all-electric vehicle and SUV

Concepts don’t always make it to production, but Jaguar’s new five-seater I-PACE Concept plans to lead the 80-year old company into a new direction and era, with plans to hit the roads by 2018.

Unveiled at the 2016 LA Auto Show, the idea behind the I-PACE Concept is to be everything to all people, we think: a sports car, a performance car, a family car and an SUV all in one, as a long distance sprinter that accelerates to 60 mph in around 4 seconds, with a range of more than 500km (NEDC cycle) and rapid charging of 90kWh battery, with a driver-focused all-wheel-drive performance from twin-electric motors generating 700Nm of torque and 400PS. And when acclaimed Director of Design at Jaguar, Ian Callum, says “No other project I’ve worked on has given me the sheer thrill that this one did” you can bet the I-PACE Concept isn’t just another glossy, unrealistic auto show bait offering.
