Not a major overhaul, but Ford’s 2027 F-150 updates and additions are significant. It follows the more substantial 2024 F-150 refresh with the nifty Pro Access Tailgate, updated powertrains and new cabin tech. Fast forward a few years, and based on what current customers have told the company, the latest changes include a new standard engine, expanded V8 availability, hands-free towing tech, more accessible Tremor and Raptor models, and a new Carhartt edition we first saw on the Super Duty. Plus, some minor styling tweaks and new wheel options. Here’s a closer look at what’s new for 2027.

New Standard 3.0L EcoBoost V6 Replaces the 2.7L
The biggest mechanical change is under the hood, where a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 replaces the outgoing 2.7-liter as the F-150’s standard engine. The two engines share the same core architecture and offer similar peak capability, but Ford says the new 3.0 delivers roughly 10 to 11 percent more torque in the part of the rev range used during everyday driving. In other words, the focus here isn’t a bigger headline number, but stronger pulling power where owners are more likely to actually feel it. Properly equipped, the new 3.0-liter can tow up to 8,400 pounds and carry a maximum payload of 1,755 pounds.
2027 Pricing: In the U.S., the 2027 F-150 starts at US$37,790 for an XL Regular Cab 4×2, or US$40,585 including destination and delivery. In Canada, the same configuration starts at C$52,190, or C$54,885 including C$2,695 D&D. The Canadian price includes Ford’s C$1,500 National Discount Package available to F-150 XL customers.
The 5.0L V8 is Back on King Ranch and Platinum
Good news for buyers who still want eight cylinders: the 5.0-liter V8 returns to the King Ranch and Platinum for 2027, the first time it has been offered on those trims since 2023. Rated at 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, its return means Ford will once again offer the V8 across essentially the entire F-150 range, from the work-focused XL right up to Platinum. BlueCruise Now Works While Towing
Perhaps the most useful technology update is BlueCruise with Towing, arriving first on this 2027 F-150. The system lets drivers use Ford’s hands-free highway driving technology while pulling a compatible boat, camper or trailer across more than 130,000 miles of pre-qualified divided highways. Ford says more than 75 percent of F-150 customers use their truck to tow, making this a considerably more relevant upgrade than another cabin gadget. It also won’t be reserved for the most expensive trucks. Every BlueCruise-equipped 2027 F-150 can access the towing feature, including XLT and Tremor models alongside Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. The only catch? Add another monthly subscription to your life; an active BlueCruise plan or trial is still required.
The F-150 Tremor Gets a Cheaper Entry Point
Ford is making the F-150 Tremor more accessible for 2027 with a new entry-level configuration starting around $62,400. That’s roughly $5,300 less than the 2026 entry point. The more affordable Tremor is STX-based and keeps the off-road hardware and capability, while cutting back on some creature comforts. That means manual climate control instead of dual-zone A/C, no heated front seats, a six-speaker audio system instead of the eight-speaker B&O setup, fixed rear glass and no off-road running boards. The idea is straightforward: keep the Tremor capability, but give buyers who don’t need all the luxury equipment a cheaper way in.
The Raptor Gets a More Affordable Starting Point (With Less Features)
Ford is doing the same with the Raptor, introducing a new entry-level configuration at around $77,800; about $4,000 below the 2026 starting point. The high-performance off-road hardware stays, but several convenience features disappear, including the head-up display, fog lamps where customers can add their own, 2kW Pro Power Onboard, Mobile Office package, power passenger seat and under-seat storage. The 14-speaker B&O system also becomes an eight-speaker setup, while the power steering column is replaced by a manual tilt unit (which we kind of like better, actually). It’s still a Raptor where it counts; Ford has simply stripped away some of the extras to lower the cost of entry. But if you want the V8, consider the Raptor R.
Fresh Grilles and Wheels Update the Exterior
This isn’t a full redesign, but Ford has given several F-150 trims a visual refresh for 2027. XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models each receive newly designed grilles along with new wheel designs, giving the familiar front end a slightly different look depending on trim. Basically, the front grille now gets the three stripe look from lamp to lamp, so it’s a bit cleaner looking. Ford describes the update as a modern take on the truck’s existing design rather than a dramatic departure. The overall F-150 shape remains familiar, so the differences are more evolutionary than transformative.
The F-150 Carhartt Joins the Lineup
The other notable newcomer is the first F-150 Carhartt, expanding Ford and Carhartt’s partnership beyond the Super Duty earlier this year. Based on the F-150 XLT 4×4 Crew Cab, the package adds different 20-inch wheels, Carhartt badging and graphics, a Tremor hood and running boards, Lobo headlamps, dual exhaust and a Carhartt-branded spray-in bedliner. Inside, and unlike the Super Duty’s monotone theme, the Carhartt-themed 2017 F-150 finds a two-tone treatement instead, along with triple-stitch details opposed to double-stitch. The branded all-weather floor mats are also new here. In the U.S., the Carhartt package costs US$4,195, with the F-150 Carhartt starting at US$62,660 before destination and delivery. In Canada, the package is C$5,995, with the truck starting at C$82,285 before destination and delivery.
