Chevrolet, or Chevy (or Chev) as most casually call it, is the more affordable and volume-selling division of GM . The company was founded on November 3, 1911 as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company by Louis Chevrolet and ousted General Motors founder William C. Durant. Back then, the ideology fuelling Chevrolet was to produce “a car for every purse and purpose.” Today, the more popular models in North America include the Camaro muscle car, the midsize Malibu family sedan, and of course, the venerable Chevy Corvette, to name only a few.
