The premium 2017 Genesis G90 sedan debuts at Detroit Auto Show as the flagship of the brand’s model lineup.
Hyundai recently announced plans to split the Genesis nameplate to a new premium luxury brand, and today gave us their first offering: the 2017 Genesis G90 premium luxury sedan, serving as the brand’s inaugural vehicle.
The Korean automaker reemerged on the world stage with stellar products over the past 10 years stepping up their game on all levels. And while the pressure is on for the new Genesis brand, Hyundai has certainly proven itself as not simply the economical choice but a producer of technology-driven, capable vehicles that won’t break the bank. And now the all-new Genesis G90 looks to pave the way in the premium market.
Two Engine Choices: V6 and V8
Created by the new Prestige Design Group, the G90 is powered by one of two powertrains: a 3.3-liter direct-injected, twin-turbocharged V6 engine developing an estimated 365 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm (with optional premium fuel), or the top-trim 5.0-liter direct-injected V8 engine developing an estimated 420 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm (with optional premium fuel).
Inside the G90
Everything you’d expect from a luxury sedan, from a leather-stitched instrument panel and cutting-edge technology to premium convenience and ergonomics features including emphasis on refinement and low in-cabin noise/vibration.
Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer is almost single-handedly responsible for Hyundai’s resurgence – at least in terms of styling and design. The new 2017 Genesis G90 is clearly luxury but boasts those strong sporty proportions as well with features like the hood with short overhangs. From front to rear, a bold, arcing character line spans the length of G90, accentuating the vehicle’s dynamic profile. Refined use of chrome elements also serve to create an elegant and premium appearance. From the rear, dual asymmetrical exhaust tips surrounded by lower fascia accents provide a substantial reminder of available power.
