Hyundai announces Genesis luxury brand with Genesis G90

Hyundai announces Genesis luxury brand, revealing new renderings of their first new model: the Genesis G90

Hyundai has announced the creation of a new luxury sub-brand called Genesis, and has revealed renderings of that brand’s first new model, the G90 sedan.

Essentially a replacement for the current Equus, the G90 goes on sale across Korea (as the EQ900) in December, and will reach North America in 2016.

The G90 is one of two models we know about; the other will be the car we know now as the Hyundai Genesis sedan, which will be renamed G80.

Hyundai’s plan is to build a six-model Genesis lineup by 2020, but the company hasn’t revealed details of the vehicles that will make up the balance of that lineup, but expect it to include at least one crossover model.

In the meantime, Hyundai’s upscale offerings will straddle both brands as the automaker transitions those vehicles to the new nameplate.
